The Powerful Life Lessons from COVID -19 Pandemic: 3 Part Series.

Reading about Prince Charles having contracted COVID -19 got me a bit gobsmacked. It is not that he is not human, but that COVID -19 didn't respect his rank or position. For me, the most outstanding factor about this pandemic is how it continues to disregard our differences. The way we contract the Coronavirus illuminates our similarities as humans; it puts us all on the same ground of equality. It makes plain our vulnerability as humanity, our frailty regardless of our position. Between the poor and wealthy, the famous and the unknown, the high-ranking individuals and just the regular folk, COVID-19 got to us all. It has not been considerate of our social and institutional status, the only factor of impact has been our immune systems.  I will write about that in my next post, what the immune system represents. For now, I'll park it there. Here are some observations I have made in this process. There are some parallels about this virus, how we contract it, how it becomes part of our entire system, how we spread it and how we treat it, and lastly how we can get reinfected even after recovering from it.
1. About how we contract the virus.·      Not everything that we consume should be consumed. The origin of the virus is apparently from human beings consuming the meat of animals that are not suited for eating. Be it for sustenance or exotic reasons or pleasure, or luxury or showcasing our social status, the meat was not suitable for human consumption. This meat contained substances including the virus, unsuitable for the human body, consequently infecting the body.
·      Just because something is edible, doesn’t mean we should consume it. We may spice it up and cook it to suit our preferred taste, it still doesn't make it suitable for our consumption.
·      What we consume, becomes part of us. When we consume poisonous food, it infects the whole body.
·      We don't always know that we have been poisoned until after some time has passed. The whole system is infected and we become different. We become disabled, incapacitated.
2.  About how the virus spreads.·      What comes in, comes out. Because it has become a part of us, we don't determine how it comes out. You're not always aware of how it comes out. Often what we have consumed has more to do with where we place ourselves. We are consuming beings, through our 5 senses, we consume billions of bits of information daily, 40 million per second. That works out to 3,4 trillion bits of information per day, that’s about, the equivalent of 3.4 gigs of data daily, works out to 1.27 terabytes of data per year. This is how much we process in our brains. Once we have consumed this data, our brains have to sort it, however, if the information is corrupted, the entire thought structure is rendered corrupt.
·      Viruses come from what we consume. In the case of Corona and other pandemic viruses, they are airborne. We can also catch them through other people's sneezing, speaking, laughing, spitting. Through their touch and what they have touched, passing the poison through touch. Have you ever heard the expression that: over 95% of what we learn is caught and not taught. Through simple daily activities you can catch and pass the virus, doesn't matter how profound and life building what you say, the virus that you have consumed is in your spit, and it can infect people once you have caught the virus. A simple word and an innocent gesture of a handshake can represent a deadly communion. Shaking on the possible death
·      Not everything negative that we contract, is due to our own negligence. A lot of what we contract has to do with our positioning. Our ability to protect ourselves from the eminent poisoning, and minimizing our vulnerabilities.
3. What lessons are we drawing from this?Imagine for a moment that our bodies are our minds. That the virus is the poisonous words we shouldn't have heard, perhaps the negative experiences and events we should never have been a part of in the first place. Words, experiences, and events we expose ourselves to, and now, we have found a way to spice it up and cover up the ugliness we see, the bad taste we taste and continue to be a part of, nonetheless. I am not sure if this is true, but it doesn't sound like the first people who contracted the virus, were eating those bats or wild meat for the first time. Eventually, their bodies were poisoned by the virus. A lot of the poisoning of the minds happens through what we regularly expose ourselves to.
Through the close relationships we have, but know very well that they're they contain viruses of toxicity. We got infected and get reinfected over and over, just like there are now cases of reinfection in China.
·      The environments we are a part of poison us constantly. We get poisoned and poison the environment in return, eventually, we are all breathing the virus in and out.
·      The institutions we set up have become poisoned by the individuals who come from these poisoned relationships and environments, as they take up positions of authority. Despite the comprehensive governance laws that are detailed in constitutions of many institutions, the custodians of these institutions constantly violate these constitutional laws.
My opinion is that the minds of these custodians are corrupted by their own corrupted selfish intentions, their own Corona infected minds. When they conduct business, their speech cannot escape their Corona infection and they spew the virus out of their mouths. Out of their mouths come lies, hatred, divisiveness, false promises, excuses, the list goes on. Whatever they touch and whenever they're part of anything, they infect and pass on the virus. We have been part of a toxic environment for centuries now. In many settings COVID-19 type of thinking has become such a part of who we are, our minds have become breeding grounds for more viruses that infect everything we say, do and touch. Our systems have in fact become so accustomed to the toxicity, to the point of being resistant to their impact. We have become desensitized to all the frivolity in our environments.
Perhaps, as with the treatment of COVID-19, the Lockdown is a chance for us to cleanse our minds. To detoxify our thoughts and connect to the fundamentals of humanity such as love, truth, caring, honesty, understanding, growth and more. How about growth and adulting responsibly, being accountable people, to ourselves and others.
The question is: Is it possible to currently change the human this human dilemma without total transformation? Where is that transformation going to come from if the entire humanity is corrupted? Is there a solution, an objective agency outside of ourselves that can help?
In my next post I will address these questions, what is the solution for our minds then?
